In 1971 A train carrying lumber from the forests of Canada to suppliers in the Mid-West derailed just outside of Culbertson, MT. Two brothers, Leroy and Robert Larsen, purchased the contract to salvage the debris. From the reclaimed lumber they established “Larsen Lumber and Hardware” an operation that remained an integral part of the community for 47 years.
